Ariel Atom in Santa Monica
So i’ve recently seen an Atom on Wilshire a few times in the Santa Monica area. (stock photo above)
As soon as I saw it about 3 blocks away I was like, “Holy illegal Batman!”. But I did some research online, and found an ariel atom owner who streets his Atom, and apparently there is a California DMV code called the SB-100.
“The SB-100 gives 500 vehicles a year the opportunity to be sequenced specially constructed. The DMV gives 500 vehicles a chance by giving away the numbers 1 to 500.”

Interesting. Ariel atoms are great track cars, but I’d never grab one for the street, let alone Los Angeles. If I were to wait in line for hours on end at the beginning of the year looking to get a kit car permit, I’d go for something completely insane. Like the Ultima GTR with 1000hp
Girl would probably be extra, but you may be able to negotiate her down to “just friends” if you give her a ride and invite her to dinner and drinks
I’d probably drive to San Fran and back along the CA-1 every weekend.
Hope I run into the actual owner. Would be cool to see if this is the tactic he used to get it on the road.
